Course overview

Disciplined problem solving using 8D is a highly structured approach which focuses on the causes of problems as opposed to simply addressing their symptoms!

  • problems adversely affect products/services – it describes what is wrong!

  • problems are a deviation between what should be happening and the actual (undesirable) situation – the effect!

  • problems affect customer satisfaction and organization effectiveness – they describe what’s hurting the business!

Disciplined problem solving and 8D employs a cross-functional team synergy led by a qualified facilitator and the use of tried-and-tested quality tools and techniques.

Organizations offering 8D problem-solving embedded in their QMS will have a distinct competitive advantage.

Attendees will learn an array of problem‑solving tools including Ishikawa Diagram, and 5-WHYs, Multiple-path 5-WHYs, and Human Factors.

They will be empowered to facilitate and document value-adding problem-solving exercises using 8Ds in conformity with customer-specific requirements.

This course meets in full the training syllabus of AESQ RM13000:2023 (8D Problem Solving Method) and the requirements of ARP9136:2016 (Aerospace Series - Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving [9S Methodology])

TEC’s 1-day 8D Momentum Course provides the essential topics presented in an immersive 1-day hands-on workshop environment – making use of Quizzes, Exercises, and Case Studies.

When delivered on-site an actual problem-solving study can replace one of the Case Studies.
