The aerospace and defence sectors have introduced a highly structured and phased approach to new product introduction known as APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process). The publication of AS9145:2016 by the IAQG now standardises the requirements for the PDP (Product Development Process) through the use of APQP and PPAP methodologies - and has been incorporated into the requirements of Rolls-Royce SABRe (Edition 3 - April 2018). Apart from standardising the PDP, AS9145 promotes the use of quality tools including, PFMEAs, DFMEAs, MSA (GR&R) and SPC.
TEC have created a LinkedIn GROUP to deal more effectively with the traffic of enquiries and comments concerned with the AS9145 Aerospace Series – Requirements for Advanced Product Quality standard –
APQP is a phased planning process applied to new product introduction. Includes specific deliverables to ensure on-time, on-quality, on-cost objectives are met. Suppliers will need to submit the results of their APQP formally to customers using PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) - before they can be authorised to supply products on a routine basis. APQP requires suppliers to demonstrate that they have established a production process that will consistently produce product meeting customers’ requirements. Aerospace and defence customers are likely to demanding conformity with the AS9145 IAQG standard.
By the end of this 2-day interactive course and workshop participants will have been showed how to implement and operate an effective Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Product Approval Process (PPAP) for the Aviation, Space and Defence sectors in conformity with AS9145 Standard. TEC adopt the principles and practices of Accelerated Learning - "learn by doing".
The course includes Project Management to conform to the fundamental requirements of AS9100 and contractual requirements now being imposed by the global Primes. Mandatory requirements included in AS9102 and AS9103 are also addressed.
Assessment of learning is achieved through structured exercises focused on an aerospace/defence Case Study. Our tutors provide feedback and advisement to ensure that best practice is fully understood in the context of the aerospace/defence sectors. TEC use and recommend Minitab(R) statistical software.
The 2-day course is highly interactive and uses an Aerospace Case Study, quizzes and group exercises. The course timings are -
Day #1: 08:30 - 17:00
Day #2: 08:30 - 17:00
The course is delivered over 2 consecutive days with continual assessment and feedback provided by the tutors.
Course topics include –
Understanding the scope of APQP & PPAP and the requirements included in AS9145
Detailed understanding of the five APQP phases -
Each phase of the APQP & PPAP is illustrated using a realistic Case Study. The course contents are based on over 25-years’ corporate experience gained from actual implementation of APQP and PPAP in the automotive, motorsport and aviation sectors. Phase 2 (Product design, development and design validation) for example, addresses DFMA, GD&T, stack-up analysis, etc. and Part obsolescence issues and interventions.
In-company courses may be organised at any time and are extremely cost-effective on a ‘cost-per-student’ basis. The host company is responsible for the venue costs.
We can accommodate up to 10 (maximum) delegates per session.Details/quote
This is a TEC "Practitioner" course - consequently it incorporates "train-the-trainer".
In their efforts to improve supply chain performance the aerospace/defence ‘Primes’ and ‘Tier-1’ companies have turned their attention to harmonizing their requirements for New Product Introduction. Following the lead of the automotive industry in the 80’s, these initiatives require the efforts of cross-functional teams who are able to use proven tools and techniques to accomplish they aims in a highly structured manner. In addition guidance is provided on how to embed the APQP & PPAP process into the organization’s AS9100 quality management system. For example, AS9145 has been incorporated into the requirements of Rolls-Royce SABRe (Edition 3 - April 2018).
TEC's 2-day course will empower an organization’s cross-functional team to undertake APQP & PPAP in line with AS9145 and customer-specific requirements.
The individuals attending will learn understand how to use a set of powerful quality tools including process flow charts, risk management (DFMEAs and PFME As), control plans, capability studies, SPC, capacity management, and more.
