IATF 16949 Implementation program

Program overview

The IATF 16949 Implementation Program provides everything necessary to design, document and implement a practical IATF 16949 QMS (quality management system) with the aim of achieving third-party certification in the shortest possible timeframe - guaranteed in writing! TEC have been working with automotive standards since the launch of QS9000 in 1994!

TEC consultants work on-site with your personnel throughout development and implementation and we only consider the program complete after successful third-party certification!

Program details

Each program is customised to suit particular requirements, for example:

  • Starting from scratch where there is no existing third-party certification

  • Upgrading from a basic ISO 9001 QMS certification

  • Modernizing an existing IATF 16949 QMS certification

Working with your team, TEC use high level visual aids to explain your QMS processes, simplify procedures and actively manage effectiveness and performance. For example, working with clients in the UK and USA hundreds of narrative procedures have been eliminated and replaced by 4 to 8 key processes - with each process visually mapped onto just four pages! This has resulted in a more efficient and streamlined business model and a user-friendly QMS.

The IATF 16949 Implementation Program is delivered in three phases to a timescale individually agreed with the client. Each phase has tangible ‘deliverables’ - with third-party certification being the deliverable of Phase-3!

TEC work on a fixed price contract with no extras - payments are aligned with the program phases. The programme deliverables are guaranteed in writing from the start.

Program benefits

Global automotive/motorsport customers are mandating that their suppliers have third-party IATF 16949 certification as a minimum with their own additional QMS requirements embedded. IATF 16949 certification is rapidly becoming the “Passport” for doing business in these demanding sectors.

Certification alone is not sufficient! The QMS documentation must practical, visual and useable by the operational personnel concerned. It must add value to the business, represent ‘best practice’, and focus on performance as well as conformity to requirements. Core tools such as APQP & PAPP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, etc. must be integrated.

The systems designed and implemented by TEC for their clients deliver all of these benefits. Because your personnel are involved every step of the way they will have ‘ownership’ of the QMS processes making day-to-day operational success ‘custom-and-practice’.

Your QMS will, of course, focus on customer priorities such as quality, delivery, responsiveness and cost-down performance and ensure that your processes are monitored for continuing effectiveness to boost profits and eliminate problems as soon as they are detected. Risk-based thinking, the Process approach and Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle are considered to be the ‘core concepts’ involved.

During the implementation phase, TEC will assess the competency of your personnel and then provide training and coaching in the mandatory ‘core tools’ to ensure that they can accomplish their jobs in a correct and consistent manner.
