The IAQG publication dates for the AS9100:2016 series of standards in the three sectors (American, European and Asian) have now been confirmed to be –
- AS/EN9100:2016 – October 2016
- AS/EN9110:2016 – November 2016
- AS/EN9120:2016 – December 2016
The standard specifying requirements for the third-party certification audit process (AS/EN9101:2016) will be published in November 2016.
On the above dates, the AS9100:2016 series of standards will be available in all languages supported by the IAQG.
We are still awaiting news of an updated AATT Course for certification body auditors, but on-line transition training will be available for existing AAs and AEAs, presumably after AS9101:2016 has been published.
While these publication dates have changed, the certification-related dates remain the same:
- 15th June 2017: All future audits must be to the AS/EN9100/9110/9120:2016 standards using AS/EN9101:2016 third-party audit process
- 15th September 2018: All transitions must be complete. From this date, existing AS/EN9100/9110/9120:2009 certificates will no longer be valid
Given the challenging transition timeframe, it is advisable for organizations currently holding AS9100, AS9110 and AS9120 certifications to commence preparations sooner rather than later. TEC Transnational is continuing to run their practical 1-day “Heads-up for AS9100:2016” course which explains how to implement the new and revised requirements; including the major changes imposed by the new ISO 9001:2015 standard which is embedded into the AS9100:2016 series of standards.
TEC’s IRCA-certified 2-day “ISO 9001:2015 Auditor Transition Training course based on AS9100:2016” provides existing IRCA-certified Lead Auditors (and Principal Auditors) with the knowledge and skills to develop new process-based auditing skills and add more value to organizations. By doing so, IRCA Certificated Auditors can make sure they are up-to-date and can audit against the new standards earlier. This course is unique in that it also addresses the requirements for auditing the AS9100:2016 series of aerospace and defence standards as well as ISO 9001:2015.
Other courses, specifically designed to prepare organizations for forthcoming changes in aerospace/defece standards include -
Learn how to document a modern, process-based QMS to fully conform with the new AS9100:2016 standards and plan a successful transition and implementation programme.
Learn from scratch how to apply risk-based thinking and risk management and be able to undertake value-adding Process PFMEAs and Design DFMEAs - with special reference to the aerospace and defence sectors.
Learn how to implement and operate an effective Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Product Approval Process (PPAP) for the Aviation, Space and Defence sectors in conformity with AS9145 (draft) and customer-specific requirements.
Understand ‘disciplined’ problem solving and be able to undertake and document value-adding problem solving exercises using the Eight Disciplines (8-D) method to respond to a customer request for corrective action in conformity to AS13000 requirements and customer-specific requirements.
